Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Sadeq al-Sadr was leaving the mosque in the Iraqi city of Najaf along with two of his sons on 2/19/1999 when ambushed by Saddam’s assassins.
Both of Ayatollah Sadr’s sons were killed by gunfire while he was severely injured. Minutes later, Saddam’s intelligence personnel disappointed of not having killed Sadeq al-Sadr,
came back to finish the job!
